Aiah Foday-Khabenje

General Secretary of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa

Rev. Aiah Foday-Khabenje is a Sierra Leonean and the General Secretary of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA-) www.aeafrica.org. AEA is the rallying point and symbol for evangelical unity in Africa and it is one of seven regional evangelical alliances comprising the World Evangelical Alliance with about 180 million individual Christians identifying with it. 

Before his current role, Aiah served the Evangelical Fellowship in Sierra Leone for sixteen years, ten of which was as the fellowship’s General Secretary or CEO. He became a Christian in his teens, in Scripture Union in the mid 70s and ministry experience cuts across denominational barriers. He grew up in the United Methodist Church and served with the Baptist Church, on graduation from university, as Dispensing Optician. He is an Ordained Minister in the Presbyterian Church of Sierra Leone. His passion is to promote unity in the body of Christ, facilitate the strengthening, equipping and leadership development in the national evangelical associations to facilitate local congregations for missional effectiveness.

Aiah has a blended educational background; has a science degree in Zoology and MBA from University of Sierra Leone, a Fellow of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (FBDO) and seminary training from Wesley Biblical Seminary in MS, USA with M.A. in Christian Studies. He recently earned a DMin degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in the USA.
